Dr. Aleš Bunta specialises in Nietzsche's philosophy, its relation to German Idealism, its echoes in contemporary philosophy and the wider relevance of Nietzsche's ideas and concepts. His extensive corpus of research is also devoted to the problem of the Cartesian cogito, in particular the question of so-called anticipations of the cogito in St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas. He also addresses topics such as stupidity, perversion, life in the age of contemporary technologies, and comic art. His research is characterised by his involvement in interdisciplinary research: among others, he has worked with physicists on the perennial philosophical problem of the (non-)existence of the void, and has been involved in a project to assess the impact of neuroscientific discoveries in the field of law.
